“They’re not scared of you. They’re scared of what you represent to ‘em”
– Easy Rider, 1969
A 2010 Time Capsule
The Year of the 69 Chopper featured Led Zeppelin as the number 1 album, the Easy Rider movie, Woodstock, Richard Milhous Nixon’s first year in office and Neil Armstrong walking on the moon.
The 69 Chopper represents the freedom of the open road. It’s a show stopping sled that is equally at home on long ribbons of asphalt or in the rough and tumble urban environs. (more…)
Oh yeah, the Model 1S was loaned out to Chris Maida, Editor of American Iron Magazine, and Chris Callen, Editor of Cycle Source Magazine, to do a review on this value-laden Bobber from Oklahoma City.
First to report back was Chris Maida.
He had the softail-style midnight-black Bobber for just under a week. One of the unique features of the bike is the suspended seat plus the hidden suspension below the frame. That provided a very cushy ride on the bare-knuckle motorbike.
Pull up a chair and enjoy the coverage of the 2009 World Championship of Custom Bike Building on Brass Balls TV.
For the first time since the World Championship of Custom Bike Building program made its debut in 2004, an American custom motorcycle engineer has won the market’s top honor of being able to call himself World Champion.
While in Sturgis Bert Baker and James Simonelli of Baker Drivetrain give Dar Holdsworth, Brass Balls’ BossMan, the 411 on proper burnout technique with the 69 Chopper.
The 69 Chopper can really light up the rear Metzeler ME 880, 180mm donut. The exhaust sounds good too. That deep rumble is provided by the team over at D&D Performance Enterprises.
The 69 Chopper is a custom-production motorcycle that includes high-end components from famed suppliers like Baker Drivetrain, Crime Scene Chopper, Leroy Thompson, Wire-Plus, D&D Exhaust, S&S Cycle and Tauer Machine.
Leroy Thompson built a number of special components for the chopper that will be standard equipment when it goes into production.
Brass Balls Bobbers’ Premium Suppliers D&D Performance Enterprises and BAKER Drivetrain Go Along For the Ride
Darwin Motorcycles, manufacturer of Brass Balls Choppers & Bobbers, announced today that the firm is providing a 300,000 mile / 1 year warranty on their hi-tech minimalist anti-chrome Model 1 and softail-style Model 1S custom-production Bobbers.
D&D and Baker Roll In
Other Brass Balls suppliers that are getting into the economic-stimulus mindset includes exhaust pipe provider D&D Performance Enterprises, which is upping the warranty to 400,000 mile / 1 year and BAKER Drivetrain which is in at 500,000 mile / 1 year.
The value-priced Model 1 retails for $15,995 and the softail-style Model 1S comes in at just $1,000 more. (more…)
Pictured here is the 69 Chopper as it receives the finishing touches before getting loaded for its debut at the 69th Edition of the Sturgis Rally. The Chopper is entered in the Production Class at the AMD World Championships.
Team Brass Balls has expressed significant enthusiasm for this new motorbike. It has visual impact, an old school look, and a bullet-proof drivetrain.
